Modern Conceptions of Dance

2011-2012 Dance Attire

 

PLEASE NOTE – all of the following shoes/tights are required for class; this may differ from the shoes/tights that may be needed for the annual performance.

 

Beginner I & II Combo Class: (Ages 18 months - 5yrs)

*Ballet - Leotard: Solid black camisole leotard, Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #703

Shoes: Sansha Star #15C – split  sole pink canvas ballet shoes.

*Jazz - Katrina Wear, Lanteri Wear, etc… leotard with hot shorts or dance pants. Short tops or camisole tops with hot shorts. No tights or socks. No street clothes! You must be in dance attire. Shoes: - Block S0401 tan super jazz shoe.

*Tap -Any leotard, tight bikatard, short top, hot shorts, etc, Tights (if wearing a leotard): Danskin Clasic Light Toast #703.  Shoes: (Toddler Sizes 7-9) Bloch # S0350 tan taps.

 

Beginner III Combo Class: (Ages 6-8)

*Ballet – Leotard: Solid black camisole leotard, Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #703, Shoes: Sansha Star #15C – split sole pink canvas ballet shoes.

*Jazz - Katrina Wear, Lanteri Wear, etc… leotard with hot shorts or dance pants. Short tops or camisole tops with hot shorts. No tights or socks. No street clothes! You must be in dance attire. Shoes: - Block S0401 tan super jazz shoe.

*Tap -Any leotard, tight bikatard, short top, hot shorts, etc, Tights (if wearing a leotard): Danskin Clasic Light Toast #703. Shoes: Bloch # S0301 tan full sole string up taps

 

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Jazz/Lyrical Technique & Progressions: Katrina Wear, Lanteri Wear, etc… leotard with hot shorts or dance pants. Short tops or camisole tops with hot shorts. No tank tops, No basketball shorts, No sweat pants! No tights or socks. No street clothes, you must be in dance attire. Shoes: Block S0401 tan super jazz shoe.

 

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Tap: Any type of dance attire can be worn. Including leotards, tight bikatards, short tops, hot shorts, tank tops, basketball shorts and sweat pants. Tights: Danskin Clasic Light Toast #703 (child size) or #72 (Adult size). Shoes: Bloch # S0301full sole string up taps: (Color does not matter for class)

 

Tap - General: Taps must fit! If you try to get your tap shoes a little bigger so you can get a few years out of them, the tap shoe will come off as they are tapping & defeats the technique of tapping. No heel taps or Mary Janes. School Uniforms are not appropriate dance apparel so don’t wear them.

 

Beginner & Intermediate Ballet:– Leotard: Solid black camisole leotard, Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #703 (Child) or #72 (Adult), Shoes: Sansha Star #15C – split sole pink canvas ballet shoe.

 

Advanced Ballet & Pointe:– Leotard: Solid black camisole leotard, Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #72. Shoes: Sansha #1 Pro – split sole pink canvas ballet shoe. Pointe Shoes: Everyone’s foot is different so I suggest trying several name brands of Pointe Shoes. Do Not Order Pointe Shoes On Line.

 

Ballet - General:  No socks are to be worn with the ballet shoes. All ties must be tied in a knot & cut off. All ballet shoes must have elastic sewn on the inside of the ballet shoe to keep the shoe on for proper execution of the technique. Hair must be fastened securely out of the face & off of the neck in a bun. No Exceptions! No halter or V front leotards. No hot shorts, tank tops, bras or sports bras are to be worn under or over your ballet attire. You will be asked to take it off if worn. Excessive dress attire (jewelry, over sized t-shirts, baggy shorts or sweat pants) is not allowed for both safety and aesthetic reasons.

 

Intermediate & Advanced Modern:  Solid black leotard (no colored trim), black footless/stirrup tights. Hair must be secured off the face in a low pony, etc… No Socks,

No shoes…this class is performed barefoot.  

 

Improvisation/Contemporary:  Layering of clothes can be worn for this class. (tank tops over bra tops, flannel shirts, basketball shorts, baggy pants, sweat pants, etc.). Hair can be worn down. No tights, no shoes…this class is performed barefoot or in socks.

 

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Hip-Hop: Any type of dancewear may be worn for this class.  Wear clothes that allow you to move freely. Shoes: tennis shoes are required. No Sperry’s, no socks, no jazz shoes, not barefoot – must wear tennis shoes.

 

Strengthening & Conditioning Exercise: Workout attire and tennis shoes. You must bring 5 pound hand weights, a mat, bottled water and a towel.
