Jazz Technique Concentrates on developing a technique with an emphasis on performance. Performance is characterized by style. A variety of jazz styles are covered including theatrical, popular, and percussive. Advanced turns, jumps/leaps, and center floor combinations are mastered. The emphasis is on accuracy and clean lines of the body. |
|
Lyrical
Concentrates on expression, control,
strength, body awareness, flexibility, and musicality. Lyrical is a
style of jazz with a solid foundation in ballet. Technique, style and
movement are integrated. Lyrical dance is contemporary with no
limitations on musical choice. It can be set to classical music or
today’s music. Ballet is a prerequisite for lyrical. No
Exceptions!

Modern
Dance
is self-expression and a technique that is more flexible and
individualistic than ballet. Movements are based on natural flow, which
frees rather than restricts the body. This class will focus on
alignment, spatial awareness, movement intention, phrasing, dynamics,
meter, tempo, kinesthetic awareness and breath support. Modern
approaches alignment from a dynamic as well as an anatomically correct
standpoint. This class is for the serious dancer.

Alternative Jazz/Hip Hop Is best defined as “Free Expression”. Technique is not the main focus of these dance styles, however it is still emphasized. This class will allow the dancer to explore and improve while developing their own unique style. The dancers will experience greater understanding of the creative process and origination of choreography. It’s fun!! |
