Class Descriptions

Pre-Combo:

The perfect 45 minute program to welcome your child to the art of dance. This class is comprised of fun filled songs that introduce your child to Tap and Ballet. Not only is this class the perfect “introduction” into the world of dance, it also develops socialization skills, listening skills, independence, and also helps with parent/child separation. 

Combo:

A one-hour class consisting of Tap, Jazz and Ballet technique. This is the perfect graduation from the Pre-Combo class. Students build off of the basics they know, as they advance their knowledge of these dance forms. Children are exposed to jazz/hip-hop for the first time. Children further their dance vocabulary and technique while having fun. This class also serves to develop rhythm, coordination, and musicality

Ballet:

Ballet is the foundation of all dance and is highly recommended as a fundamental study and compliment for all styles of dance. It will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. All dancers are taught proper dance terminology and technique that is both age and level appropriate. Our Ballet classes further develop grace, poise, flexibility, articulation and performance.

Pre-Pointe/Pointe:

A more advanced form of Ballet, utilizing pointe shoes. This Class is based upon teacher discretion. Students must have a strong dance background. This class also incorporates multiple strength exercises for the dancers’ feet and ankles. This makes this a good transition class into pointe shoes.

Modern:

Modern class will incorporate many of the foundations of modern dance technique, including suspension and release, fall and recovery, the use of momentum and connecting breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and partnering, and also in various methods of improvisation.

Jazz/Lyrical:

A one hour class consisting of Jazz and Lyrical technique. Jazz is an exploration of style and presentation. Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well as fun and innovative choreography. Lyrical combines technical components of ballet with the freedom and fluidity of jazz. Lyrical is an expressive style of dance that allows the dancer to interpret and express the emotions, lyrics and story associated with a piece of music.This class includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations and across-the-floor progressions.

Hip Hop:

Hip Hop incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. Hip hop dancing is very dynamic and helps the dancers improve flexibility develop body balance, rhythm, musicality and coordination

Progressions:

This class is designed to work on strength, flexibility, and the 'tricks' of dance. Improve your dance technique through this power packed class! No choreography is taught in this class, though short combos might be used to link skills together.

Tap:

Tap is a classic form of dance that not only involves how one looks while dancing, but also how one sounds. Tap is a fun, upbeat, rhythmic style of dance that allows the dancer to develop their coordination, balance, rhythm and musicality.

Tumbling:

Tumbling is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, body awareness, self-discipline, and confidence. Classes focus on proper hand placement and body alignment with emphasis on the muscles and flexibility required to perform proper technique.

Musical Theater:

Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and performance quality.

Contemporary:

Contemporary dance encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions and to be able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotions. It focuses on spacial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, technique, efficiency of muscle usage, musicality and safe body alignment.

Full Body Conditioning:

Full Body Conditioning is a muscle building class focusing on high repetitions and light weight. Exercises will utilize a mixture of dumbbells, resistance bands and body weight to sculpt and define arms, back, legs, glutes and abdominals.
